Menstrual hygiene should never be a barrier to a girl’s education or dignity. Yet, in many communities across Uganda, girls miss school or drop out entirely due to a lack of access to sanitary products. Kirunga Community Foundation (KCF) is addressing this issue head-on with our reusable menstrual pad distribution and hygiene education programs.

The Challenge of Menstrual Hygiene
For many young girls, menstruation is not just a monthly cycle—it is a source of shame and stigma. Without proper facilities or products, they are forced to stay home from school, falling behind in their education. Our solution? Reusable pads that are both cost-effective and sustainable.

How Reusable Pads Are Changing Lives
We have distributed reusable sanitary pads to over 243 girls in four villages, enabling them to stay in school without interruption. These pads are durable, environmentally friendly, and offer a long-term solution to period poverty. Alongside the pads, we provide hygiene training to break the taboos surrounding menstruation and empower girls with knowledge.
